Vocal Point
Dave Boyce is a co-founder of BYU Vocal Point, the award-winning collegiate a cappella group.
In 1991, Brigham Young University did not have a collegiate a cappella tradition like some of the East Coast and Ivy League schools. Boyce, his roommate Bob Ahlander, and their friend Jill Petersen decided to change that. They conceived of a 9-person a cappella group, held auditions, and within 3 months held their first sold-out concert. 2 years and dozens of sold-out performances later, Vocal Point succeeded at becoming BYU’s first-ever sponsored a cappella group. The group has gone on to win the world championships of collegiate a cappella (ICCAs), multiple recording awards from both CASA and FCMA, and a fifth-place finish on NBC’s The Sing Off. Vocal Point is the #1 most requested performing group at BYU, and its YouTube channel boasts over 130 million views.
